San or Sandra Priest, also known as “San the Artist,” is an American artist and specifically a Floridian muralist and sculptor.[1][2]
She is internationally known for her hundreds of wall and ceiling murals. The most notable ones are in the Charlotte County Events and Conference Center Auditorium in Punta Gorda,[3] the libraries in Naples, and The Hindu Temple of Southwest Florida in Fort Myers.[4][5][6]
She is known nationally for dozens of her cement sculptures commemorating 9/11. The two most notable are "React Rebuild" in Las Vegas, NV[7][8][9] and "Victorii Rebuild" in Bethlehem, PA.[10][11][12]
She is one of the sculptors selected to fashion a 10th anniversary monument for the 911 memorial at ground zero in New York, NY.[13][14][15] The sculpture is being carved from Twin Towers foundation concrete removed from the debris zone during cleanup procedures at the World Trade Center.[16][17]
It is the first of eleven such cement statues to be installed around the United States of America, as part of Project Eleven Up (11up).[18][19] As a part of this project, she also developed sign art to symbolize the story of 9/11.[20][21][22][23]
